- What is a product SKU?
- A SKU is a Stock Keeping Unit. It is a unique identifier for a product and it helps you manage and track your own physical inventory. It is especially usefully in the event you carry the same or similar products in a variety of sizes and colours. For example, one of your product lines may have 3 different sizes, in this instance, you would want to put an -s, -m- or -l within the SKU. This helps you easily identify products from one another. Think of it this way, if you have stacks and stacks of products sitting in your basement, a SKU system will help you organize, find and manage them.
- Tip: While you can code your SKUs however you want, use a format that makes sense to you and is easy to remember.
