Shopster's Help and Support

Create Coupons

Your coupon page is where you create store-specific coupons to distribute to your visitors. You can create coupons to reward customer loyalty, promote purchasing behaviour and more. When creating your coupon, you are able to specify all relevant variables, such as name, percentage discount and the promotional timeframe. Shopster then allows you to distribute the coupon code however you'd like.

How to Use:

  1. Under the Marketing heading click on the Coupons link
  2. Click the Add Coupon button.
  3. A new window will open. Fill in the required information in this window.
    • Coupon Code is the unique code entered by your customer in the checkout to activate the coupon. It can be whatever you'd like. Something as simple as SummPromo07 or thx1178 will suffice.
    • Coupon Name can be whatever you want. It's just a more human-readable way of communicating the coupon to your customer. Something as simple as Summer Promotion 2007 or Returning Customer Coupon will suffice.
    • Description (optional) identifies what the coupon is. This is only necessary if the code and name you've specified do not adequately explain the coupon.
    • Start Date specifies on what day the coupon becomes active.
    • End Date specifies on what day the coupon becomes inactive.
    • Max Discount specifies the maximum percent off of purchase the coupon will allow.
    • Min. Order On (optional) lets you set whether the minimum order amount is on items ordered, or on total order amount. If you elect to specify something for this, the coupon code will only work on orders which comply with the minimum specified by this and the next field.
    • Min. Order Amount (optional) is used in conjunction with Min. Order On. This field lets you specify either the minimum order items amount or minimum total order amount in dollars to activate the discount coupon.
    • Individual Coupon Use Only lets you specify whether additional coupons can be used in conjunction with this coupon by your customer. Checking the box enables individual use. It is checked by default.
    • Active lets you specify whether this discount coupon is currently active. It is checked (re: active) by default.
  4. Click the Add button.
  5. Distribute the coupon to visitors and customers.

Note: Using the Filter By drop down menu you can organize this page to make it easier to view your coupon history. The filter allows you to sort by: All, Inactive/Cancelled and Active coupons.
